Special Projects Commissions

Commissioning a Premiere
CCDC consists of eight professional dancers and a handful of occasional nondancers. Rehearsals take place over a period of eight months, during which time ideas are developed and refined. This process frequently involves collaborations with various artists – video artists, poets, composers, costume and lighting designers, etc. The final result is a series of public performances and a finished work that is added to the repertory. CCDC seeks commissions for new work ranging from solos and duets to ensemble work.

Commissioning a Composer
Over the last 20 years CCDC has become renowned for its use of innovative sound scores and alternative music. CCDC seeks commissions to fund the creation of new music in order to continue this tradition of innovative collaboration and the exploration of the relationship between movement and sound.

Commissioning a Community Work
For over 20 years CCDC has presented work by professional dancers as well as work performed by nondancers. CCDC is committed to working with men, women and children of all ages, involving them in the process of creating dance, while celebrating the beauty of all human movement. CCDC seeks commissions for new work for nondancers culled from the local community as well as nondancers from a community specified by the commissioning party.
